I've been a PC / Windows user since the early 90s. I believe was the best version of all, but MS is dropping support for in April. 7 is the best version now IMO. 8 sucks, it's . Some time in the future MS will drop support for 7, pushing everyone into 8, and I won't do it. It's the end of the road for me and Windows. I've known about Linux quite a while so I decided to give it a shot. I heard it has better security than Windows and it's free (open source), so yes, it's time, try it out. There are many "flavors" of Linux availabe for the PC, I found one with look and feel closer to 7 (PCLinuxOS) and installed it on my laptop right next to 7 so I could switch back and forth. Now 6 months later I'm on PCLinuxOS 95% of the time, using 7 only for a couple not available in Linux (CAD programs). It's been a reasonably easy learning for me, but I know a lot about computers, and some things I had to figure out on my own where PCLOX documentation was . But that's the best way to learn anything on a computer, just stay with it till you figure it out, don't give up.
